GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's volleyball program released its 2020 schedule Friday afternoon. The Knights are set to compete in 30 regular season matches, including 13 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) opponents and 17 non-conference competitors.Â
This season's schedule features the Scarlet & Grey taking on 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament participant St. Joseph's College (L.I.) on Jan. 25, as the Knights will face an early-season test on the road.
"We are very excited for the 2020 season," fourth-year head coach Eli Porr remarked. "The guys have been working hard over the summer and this fall to prepare for a very tough schedule."
The Knights open their campaign with a pair of matches hosted by Kean University on Jan. 18 versus Benedictine University and Elms College. The Athletics finished last year with a 22-3 record while the Blazers finished the 2019 season 28-5.Â
Arcadia hosts 11 regular season matches, including its home-opener opposite New York University on Jan. 23 from Alumni Gymnasium. The Knights finished with an 11-3 record on their home court in 2019.Â
"We will be playing many teams that were both nationally and regionally ranked, and made the NCAA tournament in 2019," Porr continued. "With a large group of seniors leading the way. I am very excited for the potential of this squad."
The Scarlet & Grey aim to replicate their success from 2019, a season that saw the Knights post a 26-11 overall record with a 13-1 mark in conference matches. The Knights capped off the 2019 season with a five-set victory in the MAC Championship match over Stevenson the program's first conference title in program history, securing the Knights' first-ever NCAA tournament berth.Â
The squad returns 13 letterwinners from last season, including four All-MAC selections. Austin Braas and Quinn Baily garnered First-team honors, while Jason Manley and Anthony Devantier earned All-MAC Second-team recognition.Â
Braas was also named a First-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) after leading all of NCAA Division III in hitting percentage with a .474 mark. The senior was one of 12 players nationwide to post a hitting percentage of .400 or better on the season. Â Â
