GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's and women's swimming programs carried last night's momentum into the second day of the 2021 MAC Championships in a big way with numerous standout swims.
Grace Brooks,
Risa Krauss,
Emily Raedisch, and
Julia Stephens began the second day of events with a Lenox Pool record time of 1:49.19 in the 200 Medley Relay, narrowly missing the program record mark of 1:48.79 set in 2016. Raedisch went on to post another record-breaking performance with a personal-best and pool Record time of 1:00.43 in the 100 Butterfly.
The highlight of the day two came from Krauss in the 100 Breaststroke, who clocked a 1:04.00 to not only set a personal best, Lenox Pool, and program record time, but also achieving an NCAA 'B' cut standard. The first-year Krauss' time was also faster than the current Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) record heading into this weekend's championship meet while currently ranking fifth nationally in NCAA Division III according to CollegeSwimming.
On the men's side in the100 Breaststroke, first-year
George Wade bested the Lenox Pool record of 1:00.59 set in 2018 with a 58.53 of his own.
Both
Grace Brooks and
Emily Raedisch swamto personal-best times in the 100 Backstroke with a 59.99 and a 1:00.43, respectively. Both times were under the previous pool record heading into the weekend. On the men's side, sophomore
Janis Kirsis lowered his own 100 Backstroke program record - marking his second this weekend - clipping his previous record of 52.30 with a 52.11.
Two new pool records were established in the 800 Freestyle Relays to close out the meet, as Stephens,
Hannah Daniels,
Nicole Belber, and
Kira Alderman set the women's record with a 8:33.63 while
Daniel Ross,
Dylan Alexander,
Donovan Phipps, and
Kevin Foley posted a 7:35.03 on the men's side.
The 2021 MAC Virtual Championships conclude Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. from Lenox Pool.
