Krauss Named Program’s First-Ever MAC Swimmer of the Year; Women’s Swimming Earns Meet-High 13 Medals in Fourth-Place Finish

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Arcadia University first-year Risa Krauss was named the women's swimming program's first-ever David B. Eavenson Award winner, honoring the Middle Atlantic Conference Swimmer of the Year, following Monday's announcement of the final 2021 MAC Swimming Championships results. Krauss earned three individual medals in the meet - including gold in both the 100-yd and 200-yd breaststroke events with conference and championship meet record times - while scoring second-best 91 overall points in the meet. Krauss was the only swimmer to break a conference record in the championship meet this weekend.

Arcadia had three finish in the top-20 of the individual overall points standings, as Grace Brooks placed sixth with 83 points while Emily Raedisch came in at 19th with 74 points.

The Knights came away with 13 total medals - six gold, three silver, and four bronze - to tie overall champion Messiah for the most on the weekend. Arcadia placed fourth overall in the championship meet with 868.5 points. Over the course of the three-day event, the Knights set 11 new Lenox Pool records and three program records - Krauss' 100-yd and 200-yd breaststroke performances and Julia Stephens' 100-yd backstroke split in the 400-yd medley relay with a time of 58.98.

MEDAL COUNT
-Krauss earned gold in the 100-yd and 200-yd breaststroke events, both with conference and championship meet record-breaking times along with NCAA 'B' Cut standards. The first-year swam to a 1:04.00 in the 100-yd event and a 2:20.56 in the 200-yd race. Krauss also raced to a bronze medal in the 200-yd individual medley with a time of 2:14.10. 

-Julia Stephens took home a pair of individual medals in her first conference meet by earning gold in the 100-yd freestyle with a time of 53.65 while claiming bronze in the 50-yd freestyle event (25.04).

-Grace Brooks also claimed two medals over the weekend, earning gold in the 200-yd backstroke with a winning time of 2:08.27 and silver in the 100-yd event with a runner-up time of 59.99.

-Emily Raedisch was the third Knight to earn a pair of individual medals in the conference meet with two third-place efforts. Raedisch claimed bronze in both the 100-yd backstroke (1:00.43) and 100-yd butterfly (1:00.43).

-Arcadia also medaled in four different relay events, including a pair of first-place finishes. The foursome of Brooks, Krauss, Raedisch, and Stephens raced to gold medals in both the 200-yd medley relay (1:49.19) and the 200-yd freestyle relay (1:40.82). That same relay team also raced to a silver medal in the 400-yd freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.18 while Brooks, Raedisch, Stephens, and Kira Alderman took home a silver medal in the 400-yd medley relay, clocking a time of 4:06.60.
