YORK, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's swimming team kicked off their season on the road at York College (Pa.) Saturday morning. The Knights (0-1, 0-1 MAC) fell to the Spartans by a score of 127-77 in the season opener. Three Knights finished first in their respective events.

How It Happened

• Tommy Tubinas touched the wall first for Arcadia in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.12.

• In the 100-yard backstroke, Christopher Stanaway was the top finisher with a time of 55.84.

• Francis Andersen was the top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.78.

• The 200-yard medley relay team of Matthew Drake, Mikalai Yakhimchyk, Andersen, and Stanaway finished third.

• George Mitev, AJ Benowitz, and Johnny Pierce finished second through fourth, respectively, in the 1,000-yard freestyle.

• Chris Carroll finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a sub-two-minute time of 1:55.38.

• Kajaun Haughton made his collegiate debut in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 200-yard medley.

• Owen Foley started his season competing in three freestyle distances.

• Jordan Green, Michael Sanchez, Haughton, and Atilla Akman competed as the 200-yard medley relay team.

• First-year Alex Pasquarello made his Knights debut, finishing third in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Knights return to the pool next Saturday when they travel to Misericordia University for a conference meet scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
