Michael Melchiorre Named Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

GLENSIDEThe Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Michael Melchiorre as the new head coach of the men's and women's tennis programs. Melchiorre will officially begin his duties on November 17.

"I would like to thank Associate Vice President of Athletics Brian Granata, Associate Athletic Director Michael Hebenstreit, and the entire search committee for their support and trust throughout the process," Melchiorre said. "It is an honor to be able to step into the head coach role."

Melchiorre is no stranger to Glenside, having served as the assistant coach for both programs since August 2017. During his tenure, he helped lead both teams to their first conference playoff appearances in eight years. In addition, he has guided practices, provided in-match coaching, spearheaded recruiting efforts, and supported academic planning and student-athlete development.

"Coach Melchiorre has been a constant and steady part of the Arcadia tennis programs for a number of years," Granata said. "He has proven to be deeply committed to our teams. Mike is a hard-working, motivated individual that knows what it takes to win within the conference and within Division III."

Alongside his work at Arcadia, Melchiorre also serves as a Racquet Professional at Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club in Fort Washington, Pa. In that role, he plans, coordinates, and leads private lessons, group clinics, and team practices for players of all ages. He also helps organize member events, local professional tournaments, and international junior tournaments.

"I am looking forward to hitting the ground running," Melchiorre added. "Arcadia's men's and women's tennis programs have such high potential to vie for conference titles, and I am very excited to be leading the charge."

Melchiorre graduated from Ursinus College in 2015 with a degree in Environmental Science. A four-year member of the Bears' tennis team and team captain, he ranks inside the program's top-25 all-time with 52 career wins, and 29 doubles wins, including 23 singles victories. He twice recorded seasons with at least 10 doubles victories.
