Adam Mack Named Head Men's and Women's Fencing Coach

GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of Adam Mack as the first head coach of the Men's and Women's Fencing programs. Mack will begin his duties at Arcadia on April 1.

"I want to sincerely thank Associate Vice President of Athletics Brian Granata, Associate Director of Athletics Michael Hebenstreit, and the entire hiring committee at Arcadia for trusting me with the opportunity to lead this program," Mack explained. "I'm incredibly grateful for their belief in my vision and excited to begin building something special with the Arcadia community."

Mack comes to Glenside after most recently serving as Collegiate Director for the United States Fencing Coaches Association. In this role, Mack served as the voice for all collegiate fencing coaches to the NCAA and national committee, in addition to developing a training program for future coaches that focuses on recruiting, fundraising, team culture, and and the ins and outs of NCAA Fencing.

"Coach Mack impressed us throughout the search process with his passion for the sport of fencing and clear plan for building a program from the ground up," Granata said. "He is someone that is dedicated to supporting student-athletes and growing the sport at the collegiate level. We believe that he will be able to leverage his professional connections in the industry to build out our program and set us up for sustained success."

Prior to his time with the United States Fencing Coaches Association, Mack served as Regional Events Coordinator with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USA Fencing where he oversaw a bid process for receiving, reviewing, awarding, scheduling, and creating regional events, acted as the main point of contact for all regions and divisions regarding tournaments.

Mack also brings experience coaching at his alma mater, Cleveland State, where he was Director of Operations and Assistant Coach. In this role, Mack oversaw day-to-day program logistics, including scheduling practices, coordinating travel, and managing equipment inventory. Mack also helped organize home meets and large-scale tournaments such as the 2018 NCAA Midwest Regional, 2019 NCAA Fencing Championships, and the Midwest Conference Championship from 2017 to 2021.

"I am incredibly honored to be the first Head Fencing Coach at Arcadia," Mack continued. "Starting a fencing program from day one is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I am so excited for this opportunity. My goal is to build a program where student-athletes challenge themselves, learn from every bout, and take pride in representing Arcadia on and off the strip."

Mack graduated with a degree in Sports Management from Cleveland State, where he was a member of the Vikings program. Mack helped lead Cleveland State to a second-place finish at the 2016 Midwest Fencing Conference Championship, finishing 10th individually at the tournament. Mack also earned a silver medal at the 2015 Maccabi Games in Berlin, Germany in both the individual and team foil.
