Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team earned its first MAC Conference victory of the season on Friday evening, sweeping King's College at home in straight sets. The Knights (7-9, 1-1 MAC) defeated the Monarchs by scores of 25-18, 27-25, and 25-18.
Arcadia was led by Tucker Curtis, who recorded a match-high 15 kills. Josh Clendening added two service aces, Pete Smith finished with five blocks, Riley Kodidek dished out 40 assists, and Cameron Birch led the defensive effort with 10 digs. As a team, the Knights hit .347 while holding King's to a .244 hitting percentage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE: Arcadia 25 – King's 18
• Josh Clendening, Luka Erickson, and Cameron Birch each recorded early kills for the Knights before Pete Smith and Riley Kodidek combined for back-to-back block assists to give Arcadia a 6-3 lead.
• Smith and Tucker Curtis added the next three kills for the Knights, followed by two more from Erickson to extend the Arcadia lead to 13-10.
• The Knights closed the set on a 9-4 run, highlighted by three kills from Curtis, two from Birch, and one each from Clendening and Kodidek.
• Smith and Birch teamed up for a block assist to secure the first set victory, 25-18.
SET TWO: Arcadia 27 – King's 25
• An early kill from Erickson, followed by a service ace from Clendening, gave Arcadia a 3-2 lead. The Knights then went on a 3-0 run, fueled by two kills from Curtis and one from Birch, to make it 6-4.
• The next seven points for Arcadia all came from kills—three from Curtis, two from Clendening, one from Birch, and one from Erickson—as the Knights tied the set at 13-13.
• With Arcadia leading 23-19 following a King's service error, the Monarchs responded with a 4-0 run before hitting a ball into the net. King's tied the set at 24-24 and again at 25-25, but a kill from Birch and a block assist from Smith and Clendening secured the 27-25 win.
SET THREE: Arcadia 25 – King's 18
• Birch and Smith opened the set with a block before King's responded with a 3-0 run. Two kills from Curtis, followed by a kill from Reece Dodd and a service ace from Curtis, gave Arcadia a 5-4 advantage.
• Birch and Kodidek recorded the next three kills for the Knights, and a 3-0 Arcadia run—featuring a kill and an ace from Clendening—extended the lead to 12-10.
• Another 3-0 run, including kills from Clendening and two from Birch, pushed the Knights' lead to 15-11.
• Dodd, Birch, Clendening, Smith, and Curtis each contributed kills during an 8-3 run before Dodd delivered the final kill to complete the 3-0 sweep of the Monarchs.
