INTRODUCTION

Here at Arcadia we want to focus on student-athletes as a whole and provide them with resources that are going to make them perform at their best in all aspects of life. Part of doing this is having a focus on proper nutrition; It is our goal to educate and introduce healthy eating habits to our student-athletes in order to help prevent possible injury, increase mental health capabilities both in sport and in the classroom and increase their overall health.

WHAT WE DO

  • The Battle Bar
The Battle Bar is a nutrition bar that is open once a week where we introduce a healthy snack for the University population. We provide samples as well as the recipe with a full list of ingredients and how to make it so that the students are able to make it on their own if they desire. This is to help educate the students on different healthy foods that they may be intimidated by or were unaware of their health benefits which are usually low cost and easy to make recipes that students of all levels can recreate on their own. We also provide opportunities for student work, where there is an intern each year who helps make the recipes and is the face of the Battle Bar.

  • Team Cooking Classes
Working with our Metz staff, we are able to organize team cooking classes throughout each semester. These cooking classes are based around a healthy meal that is easy and cost effective for our student-athletes in order to help them learn how to cook and meal prep for themselves and assist them with their busy schedules.

  • One on one and team nutrition consults
With an appointment, we will meet with student athletes individually in order to help them reach nutritional goals that they have. This can range from weight management, having specific food allergies and needing guidance on other healthy options or simply just trying to eat a more well balanced diet. We also meet with teams to educate them on what a healthy balanced diet looks like for their sport in order for them to achieve peak performance.
