Program Structure
  1. Vision:
    1. The strength and conditioning program is committed to providing our student-athletes with a great experience.
    2. Develop work ethic, mental toughness, discipline and pride in themselves and their team.
    3. Train consistently, sensibly, and systematically in a safe, clean, and professional environment to prevent injuries and enhance performance
  2. Mission:
    1. Create a culture that educates, motivates and empowers student-athletes to reach their full potential.
    2. Maximize athletic potential and minimize injury in a safe and energetic environment
    3. A strong emphasis is placed on developing a balanced athlete.
    4. Implement free weight, ground based, multi-joint, and multi-directional movements.
    5. Utilize the highest level of education, research-based program design and application needed to give our athletes an added advantage during competition.
  3. Goals:
    1. We believe strength and conditioning is an important part of a student-athlete's success at Arcadia University. We are always researching, developing and implementing strategies to give us the cutting edge and maximize their athletic potential.
    2. In order to achieve this, we will work to design and implement programs that will enhance our athletes in the following areas.
      1. Increase the endurance of all athletes by improving aerobic and anaerobic work capacity qualities.
      2. Increase the strength of each student-athletes by focusing on total body movements. As well as incorporating, various strength movements focused on developing a balanced athlete.
      3. Increase overall power
      4. Increase athletic performance using various speed, agility, and quickness techniques.
      5. Improve the movement quality of all athletes with various mobility, stability, and corrective strategies.
      6. Track progress by evaluation and testing vertical jump, pro-agility, and 10-yard sprint.  Other tests may be done.
      7. To help decrease the risk of injury, and minimize the impact of injuries on an athlete.
      8. Provide nutritional education and guidance to enhance performance, recovery, and overall well-being of the student-athlete
  4. Methods:
    1. Each team receives a customized workout plan for all phases of the year.  Careful planning takes place in conjunction with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and athletes to construct a program that will suit the needs of the team and requests of the sport coach.
    2. Programs are designed using a concurrent sequencing that enables us to raise and retain several training effects with in one training cycle (typically 4 weeks).  This is known as non-linear or conjugated periodization.
    3. Using these strategies athletes will simultaneously focus on strength, speed, muscular endurance, and mobility at the same time.
    4. All programs are free weight dominant focusing on athletic based movements.  Utilizing mostly complex and multi-joint movements or actions
    5. Athletes will follow a structured plyometric, speed, agility, and conditioning program. One that will ensure proper progression and movements that occur in multiple planes.  Various drills may incorporate linear and multi-directional movements.  Along with drills focusing on deceleration, acceleration, and proper movement mechanics
