BALTIMORE, Md. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team went 2-0 in a double dual meet Saturday to earn its first two victories of the season and improved to 2-4 on the year, defeating Gallaudet University 131-67 and host Goucher College 113-86. Goucher (1-5) defeated Gallaudet (3-5) 118-79.
The Knights started the day by winning the 400 medley relay with as the team of sophomore
Charity Brain (Kendall Park, N.J.), junior
Jenna Neil (Harrisburg, Pa.), sophomore Rebecca Burkhart (Bethel Park, Pa.) and freshman
Anna Sweeney (Highland Lakes, N.J.) turned in a time of 4:32.66.
Freshman
Lillie Curtis (East Prospect, Pa.) led a one-two-three finish for Arcadia in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.79 seconds, followed by Burtkhart and freshman
Melissa Malik (Cherry Hill, N.J.) who turned in respective times of 27.59 seconds and 27.91 seconds. Burkhart later won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:08.72, while Curtis edged Malik in the 100 freestyle as they posted respective times of 59.64 second and 1:01.06.
Junior Whitney Boackel (York, Pa,) won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:39.26 and then anchored the first place 400 freestyle relay team, which included Curtis, Neil and Malik, that registered a winning time of 4:04.05.
Brain was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:29.41 and in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.22. Neil was the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.07.
Gallaudet junior Alexandra Polivanchuk (Orebro, Sweden) won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.22, while Goucher junior Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa.) won the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.73 and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.98.
The Knights will return to action at the Diamond City Invitational November 23-24, hosted by King's College.
