HILLTOWN, Pa. – Junior
Lindsay Riekers (Lancaster, Pa.) and sophomore
Amanda Rogowyi (Humleville, Pa.) qualified for western regionals and advanced in class as the Arcadia University equestrian team competed at the Arcadia Alumni Western Show Sunday at Red Wing Farm.
The Knights were reserve champion in the morning show, and then took third in the afternoon. Also at the shows were the Arcadia alumni, Delaware Valley College and Penn State Berks.
Riekers placed third in both the morning and afternoon shows in Advanced Horsemanship to qualify for western regionals, and will move up in class to Open Horsemanship and Open Reining in the spring.
Rogowyi placed first of six riders in Intermediate Horsemanship II in the morning session and in doing so moved up in class to Novice Horsemanship and qualified for western regionals. She placed second of eight riders in the afternoon show in her Novice Horsemanship debut.
Sophomore
Megan Conley (Perkasie, Pa.) also classed up to Novice Horsemanship after finishing third in Intermediate Horsemanship II at the morning show, while classmate
Raelyn McAfee (Schwenksville, Pa.) turned in a fourth-place showing. Junior
Ruth Stetler (Dillsburg, Pa.) placed second of six riders in Novice Horsemanship in the morning, while sophomore
Jessa Karcher (Quakertown, Pa.) placed third Intermediate Horsemanship II in the afternoon.
This marked the final show of the fall portion of the 2013-14 equestrian schedule. Arcadia will resume its season February 15 when the Knights host the Arcadia Spring Western Show at Red Wing Farm.
