Complete ResultsGLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's swim team improved to 2-1 on the year after defeating visiting Middle Atlantic Conference foe FDU-Florham, 133-55, Saturday afternoon at Lenox Pool. The Devils fell to 0-5 with the loss.
The Knights posted top times in every one of the 11 events that were swam in the meet with sophomore
Eric Lam highlighting the day after finishing in a school- and pool-record time of 1:03.63 for the 100 breaststroke. The previous school record time of 1:03.94 was set by Lam on November 9th of last year while the previous pool record of 1:03.77 was set by B.J. Daisy of Hood College on October 18th of this year.
Lam also won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:06.07 and led the 400 medley relay team of Lam, freshman
Chris Nicolescu, senior
Alex Ganguzza, and freshman
Jacob Schellinger to a win after the team finished in a time of 3:51.12.
Schellinger individually also won the 50 freestyle after finishing with a time of 23.77, while freshman
Mark Tieleman and junior
Mark McMahon rounded out the top three in the 200 IM after finishing in respective times of 2:16.56 and 2:35.45.
In the 1000 freestyle, sophomore
Matthew Morano won the event with a time of 10:31.37 and was followed by junior William Nolter who finished second with a time of 11:39.10.
Morano also won the 100 freestyle after touching in at 50.37 and was followed by Tieleman and junior
Collin Andrew who finished second and third with respective times of 52.99 and 55.04.
For the 100 butterfly, Ganguzza placed first with a time of 56.54 with freshman Nicholas Denniston finishing second after recording a time of 1:01.67 and Nolter finishing third with a time of 1:03.31.
Arcadia also swept the top three spots in the 500 freestyle with freshman
Anthony Crane leading the way with a 5:14.09 finish and juniors
Jake Lindenau and McMahon following for second and third place with respective times of 5:55.86 and 6:22.90.
Junior
Timothy Graham took the top spot in the 200 freestyle after finishing in a time of 1:53.31. Senior
David Battistelli finished second in the event after touching in at 1:57.43.
In the 100 backstroke, Battistelli won the event after a 1:01.43 finish and Ganguzza followed shortly behind with a time of 1:03.67 for a second place finish.
The 400 freestyle relay proved to be the most dramatic finish for the day after the team of Nicolescu, Schellinger, Tieleman and Crane (3:25.00) edged out the team of Morano, Battistelli, Andrew, and Graham (3:25.46) by 0.46 seconds to give Arcadia the top two times in the event.
The Knights will be back in the pool on Friday and Saturday, November 7th and 8th, when they travel to New York, New York for the New York University Invitational.
