Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dell to visiting Wesley College 7-6 Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Wolverines improved to 5-3 with the win, while the Knights fell to 3-4 with the loss.
Wesley outscored Arcadia 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 4-2 lead at halftime, but the Knights pulled back within one on freshman
James Boland's (Hillsborough, N.J.) man-up goal four and a half minutes into the third quarter and then drew even on fellow freshman
John Caruso's (Cinnaminson, N.J.) man-up goal with 36 seconds left in the period.
Senior Patrick Lipari (Kings Park, N.Y.) and junior James Moss (West Chester, Pa.) scored one goal each in a span of 1:01 to put Wesley ahead for good with just over eight and a half minutes to go in the final frame, and sophomore Mike Rakos (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored the game-winner with 4:44 left in the game.
Arcadia pulled back within one twice in the final quarter but was unable to get the equalizer. Freshman
Casey Fayan (My. Laurel, N.J.) scored his first goal of the year with 6:14 to go to make it 6-5, and classmate
Ryan Carpenter (Smithtown. N.Y.) found the back of the net with 2:56 to go to make it 7-6.
Lipari finished with a game-high three goals to lead the Wolverines, while Rakos netted two goals with two assists. Junior Sam Kennedy (Columbus, Ohio) improved to 5-3 for the season after making six saves.
Freshman
Kenny Grant (Ridge, N.Y.) had one goal and a game-high three assists for the Knights, while sophomore
Robert Palumbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) added one goal with one assist. Freshman
Jordan Culichia (Pittsburgh, Pa.) saw his record fall to 2-4 despite registering 15 saves.
Wesley outshot Arcadia 41-22 in the game with a 22-12 advantage in shots on goal. The Wolverines also had a 25-17 advantage in ground balls and a 10-7 edge in faceoff wins.
The Knights will be back in action Tuesday when they host a 7 p.m. non-conference game against Bryn Athyn College at Easton Field.
