Men’s Lacrosse Team Edged at Misericordia, 10-8

Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped a tightly contested 10-8 Freedom Conference contest at Misericordia University Thursday afternoon,  dropping their record to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Cougars improved to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in conference games.
 
Misericordia used a four-goal run to take a 6-3 lead midway through the second quarter, which featured three goals from freshman Patrick Kellish (Clark, N.J.). Freshman James Boland (Hillsborough, N.J.) and sophomore Chris Jacovino (Hauppauge, N.Y.) answered with one goal each in the final three minutes for the Knights to make it a 6-5 game at the half.
 
The Cougars opened the third quarter with a three-goal run to open a 9-6 advantage with 3:35 left in the frame, and Arcadia answered with a three-goal runoff its own to make it a one-goal game with 7:46 left in the fourth quarter.
 
Sophomore Robert Palumbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) capped the run to pull the Knights within 9-8, but that proved to be their last goal of the game as sophomore Mason Quickel (Ephrata, Pa.) capped the scoring with 3:39 remaining for the 10-8 final.
 
Kellish fninshed with four goals to lead Misericordia to the win, while sophomore Andrew Reynolds (Pine Brook, N.J.) added three goals with one assist. He was also 10-of-14 on faceoffs and picked up 11 ground balls. Sophomore Lane Kocovsky (Andover, Minn.) added two goals with two assists, while Quickel finished with one goal and one assist.
 
Jacovino scored goal goals to lead Arcadia, while Boland finished with one goal and two assists. Freshman Joe Stanton (Edgewater, Md.) also had a multi-point game with one goal and one assist.
 
Junior Patrick Johnson (Montville, N.J.) made six saves to earn the decision in goal for the Cougars. Freshman Jordan Culichia (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has 13 saves in taking the loss for Arcadia.
 
Misericordia outshot the Knights 32-22, had a 22-16 advantage in ground balls and won 10-of-15 faceoffs.
 
Arcadia will look to keep its playoff hopes alive Wednesday when it hosts a 7 p.m. Freedom Conference contest against King's College its final home game of the season.
