Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team improved to 5-4 for the season as it opened the Freedom Conference portion of the season with an 11-3 victory over visiting Manhattanville College Saturday at Easton Field. The Valiants fell to 0-11 overall and 0-2 in conference play with the loss.
Sophomore
Robert Palumbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman
Joe Stanton (Edgewater, Md.) both scored three goals with one assist to lead Arcadia to the win, while freshman
John Caruso (Cinnaminson, N.J.) found the back of the net two times.
Freshman
James Boland (Hillsborough, N.J.) added one goal and one assist while winning 11-of-17 faceoffs and picking up five ground balls. Classmate
Jordan Culichia (Pittsburgh, Pa.) allowed two goals while making five stops through three quarters to improve his record to 4-4 on the year.
Junior Jack Polak (Longmeadow, Mass.), and freshmen Colin Morrissey (Shelton, Conn.) and Andrew Murray (Yonkers, N.Y.) netted one goal each for Manhattanville. Ian Reill (East Rockaway, N.Y.) took the loss while making 12 saves in net.
Freshman
Ryan Carpenter (Smithtown. N.Y) and Stanton accounted for both first quarter goals, giving the Knights a lead they would never give up. Polak opened the second quarter scoring to cut that lead in half before Arcadia scored the four goals before halftime to take a 6-1 lead at the break.
The Knights run continued into the second half as Arcadia scored the first four goals of the third quarter to open a commanding 10-1 lead.
Arcadia outshot Manhattanville 38-20, had a 32-22 advantage in ground balls and won 11-of-18 faceoffs in the game. The Knights were 1-for-5 with the extra man while going penalty free themselves.
Arcadia will return to action Wednesday when they host a 4 p.m. Freedom Conference contest against Eastern University at Easton Field.
