Box Score DOVER, Del. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the 2016 campaign 15-5 over Wesley Wednesday evening in Dover. Freshmen
Jay Horner and
Nick Ferraro combines for nine goals for the Scarlet and Grey. The game was called due to lightning with 5:17 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Knights move to 1-1 on the season, while Wesley falls to 0-2.
Arcadia jumped on the Wolverines early and often scoring the first nine goals of the contest. Horner netted two of the first three goals of the game before two and half minutes ticked off the clock. Ferraro followed with two the next three tallies before scoring the final two for the Knights in the opening period. Wesley got on the board with one second left in the frame for a 9-1 Knight lead after one.
The hosts outscored Arcadia 3-1 in the second quarter; however the Scarlet and Grey went to the half ahead 10-4. Horner opened the scoring in the second half on a feed from
Ryan Green. Wesley responded just over a minute later, however Arcadia would go on to score the game's final three goals in the third. No goals were scored in the fourth before the contest was called due to lightning with five minutes to go.
Freshman
Danny Lipkin picked up the win for the Knights making five saves over three quarters. Cody Ireland picks up the loss for Wesley.
The Knights return to action next Saturday when they travel to Catholic for a 1 p.m. contest.
