OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team recorded a 147-98 dual meet victory at Stevenson University Saturday to complete to first-ever undefeated season in program history.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights finished the dual meet season with a record of 9-0, setting a new program record for wins in a season. The previous mark of eight dual meet win was set a year ago, when Arcadia finished 8-2. The Mustangs finished the dual meet season with a record of 7-5.
BACKSTROKE: Freshman
Eunice Ardamoy turned in a second-place time of 1:02.14 in the 100, which was just one-tenth of a second off the winning time of 1:02.04 recorded by Stevenson's Melanie Milam. Junior
Rose Georgias placed fourth in 100 (1:06.88) and fifth in the 200 (2:26.31). Freshman
Rachel Samson finished third in the 200 in 2:21.06.
BREASTSTROKE: The Knights had each of the top four finishers in the 100 and the top-three finishers n the 200. Sophomore
Samantha Carpenter was first to finish in both events, winning the 100 in 1:10.63 and the 200 in 2:32.27. Freshman
Bailey Babarsky was runner up in the 100 (1:13.26), while sophomore
Taylor Byers was runner-up in the 200 (2:36.12).
BUTTERFLY: Freshman Annalise Christie was second in the 200 with a time of 2:31.98, edging out sophomore
Rylee Cella (2:32.88) for and freshman
Amber Zelko (2:37.04).
DISTANCE: Freshman
Megan Hupp and sophomore
Alyssa D'Esposito posted a one-two finish with respective times of 11:01.93 and 11:34.75. Sophomore
Caroline Patterson placed fourth in 11:42.91. Freshman
Bekah Brown won the 500 with a time of 5:33.83, edging out D'Esposito's runner-up time of 5:34.55. Babarsky and Patterson placed third and fourth in the 500 with respective times of 5:45.26 and 5:47.63.
SPRINTS: Carpenter was victorious in the 200 with her time of 2:01.56, which was 0.31 seconds ahead of freshman
Rachel Samson's second-place time of 2:01.87. Fellow freshman
Kayla Drago won the 50 in 25.55, while Hupp won the 100 in 56.53.
INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Senior
Megan Obarowski had the third-fastest time in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:20.25, while Byers' time of 2:23.53 was fourth-fastest.
RELAYS: The 200 medley relay of Ardamoy, Carpenter, Drago and Samson won in 1:51.57, while the team of Samson, Hupp, Byers and Drago touched first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.05.
NEXT UP: The Knights will next compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships February 9-12 at the Graham Aquatic Center in York.
