GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Arcadia women's swimming team bested four-time defending MAC Champion Messiah Friday night, 109-96. The Knights completed the double dual sweep by downing King's, 126-79.
FOR THE RECORD:
- The Scarlet and Grey maintain their perfect dual meet record at 9-0.
- Messiah dropped to 4-6 on the year, including a win over King's.
- The Lions fell to 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Arcadia started strong in the individual events, as sophomore Megan Hupp and junior Alyssa D'Esposito chalked up a 1-2 finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Hupp touched the wall at 10:50.35, followed by D'Esposito at 11:17.27. The duo would go on to chalk up big points in the 500-yard freestyle later in the night, as Hupp paced the field at 5:19.85 and D'Esposito came in fourth with a 5:39.76, just .01 seconds out of third place.
- The next event, the 200-yard freestyle, saw a pair of sophomores finish in the top-three. Rachel Samson registered second-place points with a 2:02.62. Less than a second behind her was Bailey Babarsky in third at 2:03.31.
- The Knights continued to build their freestyle success in the 50-yard rendition, as freshman Madison McKay, sophomore Eunice Ardamoy and junior Taylor Byers combined to claim the top-three spots. The frosh clocked in at 25.54, followed by Ardamoy at 26.56 and Byers at 26.63.
- Hupp (56.31) and McKay (56.94) wrapped up the individual freestyle events with a second and third place finish, respectively, in the 200-yard race.
- Samson kicked off the stroke events with a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM, completing her four strokes in 2:20.55.
- McKay notched a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall with a 1:03.53.
- Ardamoy and senior Rose Georgias added second and third place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke, with the former finishing with a 1:01.76 and the latter at 1:05.42.
- Byers claimed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:12.49.
- The night came to an end with the 200-yard freestyle relay, in which Ardamoy, Georgias, senior Lindsay Fortier and Babarsky combined for a 1:45.32 to claim second-place points.
NOTES:
- Arcadia has beaten the Falcons in head-to-head action for the second consecutive year.
- The Knights are a combined 18-0 over the last two seasons in dual meets.
