WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's golf was back on the course competing in day one of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Challenge hosted by McDaniel College and Gettysburg College at Waynesboro Country Club. Waynesboro is playing as a par 72, 6740-yard course. Arcadia shot a 331 on day one in the 18-team field. Leading the way for the Knights was
Tony Antonelli who carded an 81, +9.
Antonelli shot a 41, +5 on the front and after a bogey on the first hole, carded his first birdie on the second hole to get back to even. He then finished the front with four pars. On the back, Antonelli improved by a stroke for a +4, 40. After starting with a double bogey, and bogey Antonelli settled down to card his second birdie on the 12
th before firing five straight pars.
Frankie Sass finished second for the Knights, one stroke behind Antonelli with a +10, 82. Sass carded a +6 42 on the front nine, with two pars, and picking up back-to-back birdies on the 4
th and 5
th holes. On the back, Sass improved by two strokes with a +4, 40 picking up his third birdie of the round on the 12
th hole to go with three more pars.
Matteo Patitucci was the third finisher for the Knights with an +11 83 for the first round. Patitucci carded a 41 on the front, +5, highlighted by his eagle on the 8
th hole. He also had three pars on the front. On the back, Patitucci was consistent with seven pars, including a stretch of six straight for a +6, 42.
Nicky Antonelli rounded out the scoring for the Knights with a +13 85. Antonelli started with three straight pars on the front, en route to a +6 42, before carded three more pars to finish the front. On the back, Antonelli was +7 with three pars.
Hayden Williamson's +15, 87 did not factor in to the Knights' team score. On the front, Williamson shot a +7, 43 with a birdie on the second hole and three pars. On the back, he picked up his second birdie on the 14
th with two more pars for a +8 44.
