YORK, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team returned to action on Friday for day one of the Spartan Splash hosted by York College of Pennsylvania. After the opening day, the Knights sit in third place in the seven-team field with 152 points. The women were led by standout performances from Mikayla Scardino, who finished second overall in the 50-yard freestyle and helped pace the Knights in the 400-yard medley relay.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Scardino, Brooke Boyd, Kiera Krebs, and Audrey Haydu placed fourth with a time of 1:42.65. The quartet of Sam Ehrhart, Julianne Heller, Kayleigh Kennedy, and Sophia Randle finished ninth in 1:48.54.
• In the 500-yard freestyle B-Final, the Knights claimed three consecutive finishes: Haydu placed 12th (5:39.35), Gabby Schultz took 13th (5:40.44), and Boyd finished 14th (5:44.25).
• Ava Despeaux was the top Arcadia finisher in the 200-yard IM, placing fourth in the A-Final at 2:14.52. Maggie Dent represented the Knights in the B-Final, touching in 2:31.75.
• Scardino had one of Arcadia's strongest swims of the day, finishing second overall in the 50-yard freestyle A-Final at 24.60 after a prelim mark of 24.67. In the B-Final of the same event, Randle and Krebs tied for 10th with matching times of 26.71.
• The Knights closed the night with a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Scardino, Heller, Despeaux, and Haydu touched in 4:07.40. Schultz, Rylie Pellegrino, Dent, and Randle placed 11th at 4:36.20.
