YORK, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team continued competition at day two of the Spartan Splash hosted by York College of Pennsylvania. After finishing Friday in third place, the Knights remained in third in the seven-team field with 337 points.
Arcadia was led by Ava Despeaux, who won the A-Final of the 100-yard butterfly with a dominant performance, dropping two full seconds from prelims and becoming the only swimmer in the field to post a sub-minute finals time at 58.11. Mikayla Scardino also turned in a strong swim, earning a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.32.
The Knights' relay squads added key points, including a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay and a third-place showing in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Mikayla Scardino, Julianne Heller, Ava Despeaux, and Brooke Boyd placed fourth with a time of 1:52.76. In the same race, Gabby Schultz, Rylie Pellegrino, Kiera Krebs, and Sophia Randle finished 11th at 2:00.79.
• Maggie Dent represented the Knights in the A-Final of the 400-yard IM, taking eighth with a time of 5:19.23.
• Despeaux dominated the A-Final of the 100-yard butterfly, winning the event in 58.11. In the B-Final, Kayleigh Kennedy finished 11th with a time of 1:05.28.
• The 200-yard freestyle featured two Knights in the A-Final: Audrey Haydu finished sixth at 2:04.89, while Brooke Boyd claimed seventh at 2:05.17. In the B-Final, Rylie Pellegrino, Kiera Krebs, and Kylie Perry placed 14th, 15th, and 16th, respectively.
• In the 100-yard breaststroke, Heller recorded a seventh-place finish in the A-Final with a time of 1:10.80.
• Scardino earned a second-place finish in the A-Final of the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.32. In the B-Final, Schultz placed ninth at 1:03.38, and Randle finished 12th at 1:06.31.
• The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Schultz, Pellegrino, Boyd, and Haydu secured third place with a time of 8:29.67.
