GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University men's and women's golf teams are set to open their spring season, as they travel to Williamsburg, Virginia to play in The Ruckus on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday March 23.
The men's squad played in 11 rounds in the fall, highlighted by a season-best team score of 307 and coming in second at the Albright Lions Invitational. The Knights bring in three first-years and two transfers in
Aiden Field,
Carter Navulur,
Matteo Patitucci,
Nicky Antonelli, and
Tony Antonelli. Arcadia returns
TJ Coopmans,
Chad Maurer,
Caden Quinn,
Frankie Sass,
Justin Song, and
Hayden Williamson.
"I have high for the men's team," shared head coach
Barry Dear. "We added a lot of talent this fall. We're definitely deeper and more talented than last year, so I expect we have a very good chance of winning our conference this year."
The women's team competed in eight rounds in the fall across six events. The Knights placed first at the Stockton Invitational with a score of 418. The Knights bring in two first-years and one transfer in
Kylie Beers,
Gianni Straughter, and
Katherine Gaffney. Arcadia returns
Taylor Gardner,
Cristy Gori,
Joyce Jung,
Grace Vigliotta, and
Karahkwenhawe White.
"On the women's side, it'll be one of the strongest teams we've had in a while," explained Dear.
The Arcadia women have six scheduled events for the spring, while the men have seven. Both seasons culminate with their respective conference tournaments. The women are set to play in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on April 26-27, hosted by Golden Oaks Golf Course. The men take on the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) the next weekend, on May 3-4, hosted by Shawnee Country Club.
