GLENSIDE - It was another competitive week of competition inside the Esports Arena this past week where the Overwatch team brought home a championship for the third year in a row.
ROCKET LEAGUE
Arcadia faced WPI Crimson in the quarterfinals of the NECC playoffs in a five-game series that was a tough battle from start to finish. Both teams came out strong, with each game bringing a mix of tight plays and strategic decisions that made for a hard-fought match-up. The Knights took an early lead, but WPI answered back in Game 2. By Game 3, the momentum had shifted again, with Arcadia securing a crucial win to take a 2-1 series lead. WPI responded in Game 4, forcing a decisive fifth game that would determine who would move on in the playoffs. The final game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams creating scoring chances and locking down defensively when it mattered most. In the closing moments,
Andrew Lindenmuth found an opening and scored the winning goal, clinching the series 3-2 for Arcadia. With the win, Arcadia advances to the next round of the NECC playoffs, having earned a hard-fought victory against a tough opponent.
OVERWATCH
Arcadia's Overwatch team traveled to Center City Philadelphia on Sunday to compete at the MAC LAN, hosted by Local Host. During the Swiss stage, they posted an impressive 4-1 record, with their only loss coming at the hands of Alvernia University's A team. Despite the setback, the Knights looked to continue its dominant run at the tournament, aiming to secure their third consecutive championship title. Arcadia faced Drexel in the semifinals, where they secured a solid victory to advance to the final round. In the championship match, they met Alvernia again. The Knights came out strong, sweeping Alvernia 3-0 in the finals to claim the trophy. With this win, Arcadia continued their reign as one of the top teams in the tournament, cementing their legacy by bringing home the championship for the third year in a row.
