NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's golf team wrapped up play at the DeSales Spring Classic, held at Olde Homestead Golf Club, a par-72 course playing 6,517 yards. The Knights maintained their third-place standing after carding a 325 (+37) in the final round, finishing with a two-day total of +61.
Frankie Sass once again led the way for Arcadia, posting the team's lone round in the 70s with a 78 (+6). Sass finished third overall in the individual standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sass shot a 78 (+6) in the final round to finish at +6 overall for the tournament. He opened the round at +4 through the first three holes before settling in with back-to-back pars and a birdie on the sixth. He added three more pars to close the front nine at 39 (+3). On the back, Sass was +3 through two holes but responded with consecutive pars and a birdie on the 14th, finishing with three additional pars for a 39 (+3).
• Justin Madden finished second for the Knights with an 80 (+8) and tied for 22nd overall alongside Hayden Williamson. Madden shot 44 (+8) on the front with three pars before turning in an even-par 36 on the back, highlighted by four birdies and three pars.
• Nicky Antonelli placed third for Arcadia with an 81 (+9), finishing 13th overall at +16 for the tournament. He carded a 41 (+5) on the front with six pars and added a 40 (+4) on the back, recording a birdie on the 16th along with four pars.
• Hayden Williamson rounded out the team scoring with an 86 (+14), tying for 22nd overall. He posted a 45 (+9) on the front with three pars, then shot 41 (+5) on the back, including a birdie on the 12th and three pars.
• Tony Antonelli recorded an 89 (+17) in the final round, finishing tied for 27th overall at +25. His score did not factor into the team total. He shot 45 (+9) on the front with a birdie on the eighth and three pars, then followed with a 44 (+8) on the back, adding three more pars.
• Chad Jones competed as an individual and shot an 89 (+17), placing him in a tie for 39th. He carded a 44 (+8) on the front with a birdie and a par on the eighth hole, and followed with a 45 (+9) on the back, adding three pars.
Scranton held off Albright B to win the team title at +36, with Albright finishing second at +45. Arcadia placed third at +61, followed by Muhlenberg (+70), DeSales (+72), Lebanon Valley (+80), Misericordia (+100), and DeSales B (+122).
