QUANTICO, Md. – The Arcadia University women's golf team opened play at the 2026 Sea Gull Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University at Green Hill Country Club. The par-72 course, playing at 5,628 yards, saw the Knights finish the first round in third place out of four teams with a total score of 428 (+140).
Katherine Gaffney paced Arcadia with a strong opening round of 88 (+16), placing her in a tie for third overall.
Gaffney turned in an impressive front nine, shooting 3-over 39 with four pars and back-to-back birdies to close the side. She carded a two on the par-3 eighth hole before adding another birdie on the par-4 ninth. On the back nine, Gaffney posted a 13-over 49, recording two pars and adding her third birdie of the day on the par-4 12th hole.
Taylor Gardner sits in 10th place after an opening round of 96 (+24). She carded a 51 on the front nine before improving by six strokes on the back, shooting a 9-over 45 with three pars.
Kylie Beers finished third for the Knights with a 115 (+43), tying for 17th place. She recorded a 58 on the front nine and improved slightly on the back with a 57.
Cristy Gori rounded out the team scoring, finishing in 20th place with a 129 (+57). She shot a 62 on the front nine and a 67 on the back.
Gianni Straughter posted a 153 (+81) in the opening round, with a 73 on the front and an 80 on the back. Her score did not factor into the team total.
Salisbury leads the field after the first round at 56-over, followed by Texas Lutheran at 90-over. Arcadia sits in third at 140-over, while SUNY Cobleskill rounds out the field at 167-over.
