QUANTICO, Md. – The Arcadia University women's golf team wrapped up play at the Sea Gull Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University at Green Hill Country Club. The Knights maintained their third-place position in the four-team field, improving by four strokes in the second round to finish with a two-day total of 852 (+276). Green Hill is a par-72 course playing 5,628 yards.
Taylor Gardner led Arcadia on the second day, carding a 21-over 93 to finish eighth overall at 45-over for the tournament. Gardner posted a 12-over 48 on the front nine before improving by three strokes on the back with a 9-over 45. She recorded her lone birdie of the round on the par-5 15th hole.
Katherine Gaffney finished second for the Knights and placed seventh overall. She shot a 26-over 98 in the second round, finishing at 42-over for the tournament. Gaffney recorded a 53 on the front nine, highlighted by a par on the par-3 fourth hole. She improved on the back with a 9-over 45, adding pars on the 10th and 13th holes and an eagle on the par-5 15th.
Kylie Beers placed third for Arcadia with a 44-over 116 in the second round, finishing 18th overall. She improved by three strokes on the front nine from her opening round with a 55 and followed with a 61 on the back.
Cristy Gori rounded out the team scoring with a 45-over 117, finishing 20th overall. She shot a 60 on the front nine and improved by three strokes on the back with a 57.
Gianni Straughter posted a 144 in the second round, improving by nine strokes from day one. She carded an 80 on the front nine before improving significantly on the back with a 64. Her score did not factor into the team total, and she finished tied for 22nd overall.
Salisbury claimed the team title with a second-round score of 69-over, finishing at 125-over for the tournament. Texas Lutheran placed second at 167-over, followed by Arcadia at 276-over and SUNY Cobleskill in fourth at 331-over. Salisbury's Krista Brosius earned medalist honors with a two-day total of 20-over, edging Texas Lutheran's Bella Asbury by two strokes.
