UPPERCO, Md. – The Arcadia University men's golf team returned to action at the Stevenson Spring Invitational, held at Piney Branch Golf Club. The Knights finished in a tie for seventh place in the 19-team field with a score of 320 (+40). Piney Branch played as a par-70 course at 6,502 yards.
Frankie Sass led Arcadia with a 7-over 77, finishing tied for 13th overall.
Sass opened with a 3-over 38 on the front nine, recording five consecutive pars to begin his round before adding a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole. He closed the front with another par. On the back nine, Sass started with back-to-back pars and added his second birdie of the round on the par-4 12th hole. He finished with three additional pars to card a 4-over 39.
Nicky Antonelli finished second for the Knights with a 9-over 79, placing in a tie for 21st. He shot a 3-over 38 on the front nine, bouncing back from three early bogeys with two birdies over the next three holes and two closing pars. On the back, Antonelli posted a 6-over 41 with three pars and a birdie on the 18th hole.
Tony Antonelli and Justin Madden rounded out the team scoring, each carding an 82 (+12) to tie for 41st. Antonelli shot a 7-over 42 on the front with two pars and a birdie on the par-3 seventh hole. He followed with a 5-over 40 on the back, recording three pars and a birdie on the par-3 13th. Madden opened with a 3-over 38 on the front, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on holes six and seven, along with three pars. He shot a 9-over 44 on the back with three pars.
Hayden Williamson posted a 20-over 90, which did not factor into the team score. He shot a 9-over 44 on the front, highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole, and followed with an 11-over 46 on the back with two pars. Williamson finished tied for 84th.
Chad Jones competed as an individual and shot an 87 (+17), finishing tied for 68th. He recorded a 7-over 42 on the front with a birdie on the second hole and added another birdie on the 16th during his 10-over 45 on the back.
Mount Aloysius captured the team title with a 24-over 304, finishing four strokes ahead of Stevenson. Arcadia tied for seventh with Catholic. Individually, Riley Ruby (Goucher), Liam Larkin (Drew), and William Willis (Mount Aloysius) shared medalist honors at 2-over 72.
