GLENSIDE, Pa. - After securing a spot in the ECAC Round of 16 following a postseaon play-in victory over Central Methodist, the Arcadia Overwatch program was eliminated from title contention Wednesday with a 3-1 loss to top-seeded - and undefeated - Cental Connecticut State.
ARCADIA 1, CCSU 3
Game 1: Game one went down as an Arcadia win under strange circumstances as CCSU's lobby did not have the correct settings, resulting in a forfeit of the first map.
Game 2: CCSU chose Rialto where the Knights struggled heavily out of the gate on attack, nearly being full-held before eventually managing to push out and reclaim some ground only to be stopped just short of the second checkpoint. On defense, the Knights struggled to hold the line after the initial push as they staggered their death timers and were only able to find a re-contest toward the very end of CCSU's push.
Game 3: The Knights took CCSU to Volskaya, where they were met with a very unique composition which centered around double shielding a bastion who was able to teleport around through use of a Symmetra pick. The Knights struggled to find an answer to this strategy in time and lost the map.
Game 4: The Knights took CCSU to one of their most preferable maps, King's Row, where they put up probably the best showing of the night against CCSU to that point, keeping the match interesting by pushing the cart just shy of the second checkpoint before falling to CCSU's defense. Overall, the Knights had a great series against the tournament's undefeated top seed and were happy to round out their fall semester of competition with a series like this.
