GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia Esports Hearthstone team hosted the inaugural Arcadia Knights Invitational this past weekend, featuring an extremely compettive, 16-team field that included six programs ranked in the nation's top-20. The Knights had a pair of teams entered in the double-elimination style tournament - Arcadia A and Arcadia B - both of which were pitted against some of the best teams in the field.
ARCADIA KNIGHTS A
ROUND 1 vs. #8 MICHIGAN
The Knights A squad of
Henry Ryder,
Aidan Stuhltrager, and
Joel Anderson looked to upset eighth-ranked Michigan to start the event. However, they were unable to get their footing in any of the matches and fell to the Wolverines, 3-0.
ROUND 2 vs. #5 UCLA
The Knights looked to make a run through the loser's bracket but had to defeat fifth-ranked UCLA to get there. After a hard fought 3-2 series, they were unable to secure the win in game five and did not advance in the tournament.
ARCADIA KNIGHTS B
ROUND 1 vs. #20 KENT STATE
The Arcadia Knights B team of
Mason Cole,
Xavier Dube, and
Corey Klevan looked strong in round one vs. No. 20 Kent State. However, the strength did not last as they fell in a heartbreaker game five to lose the series, 3-2.
ROUND 2 vs. MESSIAH
The Knights found themselves up against a familiar foe in Messiah in the loser's bracket. They jumped out to an immediate series lead and were able to hold on to it and take the series, 3-1.
ROUND 3 vs. #20 KENT STATE
The Knights found themselves back up against Kent State again in a win-and-in to make Sunday's top-eight. The Knights looked to be out to a strong start again, but were unable to hold on to the lead this time and dropped the series, 3-2.
