GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia Esports program kicked off its 2021 campaign this past week with the Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Overwatch programs all in action.
HEARTHSTONE (NACE)
ARCADIA 3, DRURY 1
Game 1: Drury began with a strong start on their zoo warlock deck, showing early control of the board over the aggro demon hunter list of the Knights. It was a one-sided affair as the Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 series lead.
Game 2: The Knights roster leaned on their ever-growing experience to keep cool and bounce back in game two with a good showing on their aggro demon hunter deck over the highlander hunter list of Drury.
Game 3: The Knights took the game three match with their token druid. A dominate open hand ended the match in just four turns, giving the Knights a 2-1 series lead.
Game 4: The Knights finished strong in game four with a strong showing in the aggro rogue mirror match and took the season-opening win, 3-1.
LEAGUE OF LEGENDSÂ
ARCADIA 0, STOCKTON 2
Game 1: The Knights came into their first game of the spring semester looking a bit rusty and made some uncharacteristic mistakes resulting in an early defeat in game one.
Game 2: The Knights came out looking much stronger, and put up much more of a fight. Unfortunately, they fell just short to Stockton.
OVERWATCHÂ (ECAC)
ARCADIA 0, ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 3
The Knights' season-opening Overwatch match turned out to be a bit one-sided as a talented Illinois Wesleyan roster steamrolled through the series without much trouble. The Knights put up a solid fight considering the average ranking differential between the teams, but ultimately came up short fight after fight, resulting in a 3-0 series loss.
