Arcadia Esports Weekly Roundup

GLENSIDE – It was a busy week as the Arcadia Esports teams continued play through 2/14 inside the Esports Arena.

ROCKET LEAGUE

The Knights faced off with the University of New Haven on Tuesday, falling 3-0 to the Chargers. Game one started slow as both teams took a calculated approach from the beginning. New Haven got on the board first before scoring again to take game one 2-0. The Chargers came out firing in game two as New Haven took the second game 4-1, with Bradley Diehl scoring for Arcadia. The Knights found their stride on offense in the third game as Diehl and Max Nickerson found the back of the net, but the Chargers offense was too much to overcome as New Haven closed out its victory with a 4-3 win in game three.

HEARTHSTONE

Arcadia continued the Blizzard Collegiate Tournament with round five, where the Knights (Grey) faced off with Georgia State. In game one, Arcadia earned the victory before the Panthers reeled off three straight wins to take the match by a 3-1 final.

The Knights (Scarlet) team of Aidan Stuhltrager, Mason Cole, and Henry Ryder went up against the University of Georgia, which took first two games to take a commanding lead. Arcadia bounced back in game three when the combo decks found its groove, and in game four which the Knights captured to force a winner-takes-all game five. The Knights were successful in the deciding game, battling all the way back to take the match by a 3-2 final.

Later in the week, the Knights (Grey) squared up with Ontario Tech in round six of the Blizzard Collegiate Tournament, with Arcadia taking a 3-0 victory. In game one, the Knights side of Corey Klevan, Anthony Muscella, and Joel Anderson took the victory with a quick win on their paladin deck. Arcadia took another quick victory in game two as the beast druid rolled once again, and game three went to the Knights as a difficult to play burn shaman deck helped get the team across the finish line to secure the match victory.

OVERWATCH

Arcadia opened up the season against a tough conference foe in Champlain College, falling 3-1. On map one, the Knights started strong on the control point map as Cole Baugh shied from their shot calling rile and led Arcadia to its first-ever map victory. On map two, Champlain tied the score despite strong damage-per-second play from Paul Broccardi and Patrick McCool. Champlain took the victory with wins on map three and four despite a strong overall team effort.

RAINBOW SIX SIEGE

Arcadia's Rainbow Six Siege team took on Marymount California in its first NECC contest, earning a 2-0 win. In game one, the first map of the series took the competition to Chalet, which appeared to work in the Knights favor. Arcadia started the first attacking half in good stride, taking a solid 4-2 lead. During the defensive half, the Knights stayed strongand closed out the game 7-4 with James Hinkle executing an ace clutch for Arcadia. In game two, the teams were sent to Clubhouse, another map choice that worked in the Knights favor, as the unit secured a 5-1 lead after the first half with the play of David Cortez standing out. Arcadia closed out the victory by finishing off the last two attacking rounds to take game two by a dominating 7-1 final.

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS

Arcadia went up against Bryant University in week one of NECC competition, falling by a 2-0 final. In game one, the Bulldogs started with a level-tone invade which transitioned them to a strong gold lead in the bottom lane As the round shifted to the later stages, Bryant's hyper carry was able to stop the Knights in their tracks. In game two, the Bulldogs started again with a level-one invade strategy but Arcadia was ready and traded on the map effectively. Laning phase was relatively quiet when it came for team fights, as the Knights were unable to get through Bryant's front line tracks, ending the match.
