GLENSIDE – It was a busy week full of action as the Arcadia University Esports teams continued its seasons.
ROCKET LEAGUE
Arcadia started off its week with a NACE matchup against University at Buffalo. In game one, both teams brought the offense as the Knights struck first, but each team went goal-for-goal remainder of the match with Arcadia securing a 4-3 victory. In game two, Buffalo used a more conservative approach, stifling the Knights offense.
Max Nickerson tallied the lone goal as Arcadia fell 2-1 to tie the match at one. Buffalo took game three 2-0 but the Knights responded in game four with Nickerson and
Bradley Diehl breaking through for a 2-0 win and a winner-take-all fifth game. Game five started slow but
Benjamin Baron was the hero, scoring the only goal as Arcadia wrapped up the win with a 1-0 win, taking the match 3-2.
Later in the week, the Knights faced off against West Virginia University, suffering a 3-1 defeat. Diehl highlighted the match with a hat-trick in round one helping Arcadia to a 3-1 victory, however, the Mountaineers ripped off three straight wins to secure the victory.
RAINBOW SIX SIEGE
The Knights Rainbow Six Siege team faced off with Coe College, taking a decisive 2-0 win. On game one, both teams were taken to Coastline, where Arcadia took control a solid first attacking half. Team communication as a major plus as the team took control of the areas it needed to and built a 4-2 lead. In the defending half, the Knights kept tight and was able to close out a 7-2 win behind double-digit performances from
James Hinkle and
Dave Cortez. In game two, Villa was the scene as Arcadia built a 5-1 lead in the first half. In the second half, the Knights were able to dominate on defense on the way to a 7-1 win and the victory.
HEARTHSTONE
Arcadia Knights Grey earned its first-ever victory n the Blizzard Collegiate Tournament when it took on Saint Louis University in round seven. In game one, the Knights jumped out early, holding on to take the lead. Saint Louis won a back-and-forth contest in game two to tie the score at one. Arcadia used its libram paladin deck to thwart the aggressive approach used by Saint Louis, taking a game three victory and a 2-1 lead. Saint Louis bounced back and took game four to even the match, but the Knights came through with their burn shaman to secure the 3-2 victory.
OVERWATCH
Arcadia took on Centre College as it continued NECC play in week two, securing the victory over the Colonels. In game one, the Knights were taken to overtime but secured both points to take the lead. In game two, stellar play from
Tony Goines helped push Arcadia over the finish line as the Knights took a commanding 2-0 lead. Arcadia closed out the victory with a round three win to move to 1-1 on the season.
SUPER SMASH BROS ULTIMATE
Arcadia continued NACE play in week three with a defeat to Messiah University.
Corey Klevan started off the match with Aegis, going up against the Falcons selection of Roy. After a 3-0 defeat, Zoe Kempf tapped in with Corrine, but also fell by a 3-0 tally. Vincent Kereszi followed and managed to beat Roy but fell to Messiah's second player, who was playing as Lucina to end the match.
