Overwatch, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Earn Victories for Esports

GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University Rocket League, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate teams all earned wins in the first week of regular season play from the Esports Arena last week.

ROCKET LEAGUE

The Arcadia University Rocket League team faced off with King's College this week, earning a 4-1 victory. Game two and four were especially close, but the Knights cohesive passing and strong team play stood out. In game two, Arcadia's lone defeat, poor spacing doomed the team as players staggered and overlapped, limiting their effectiveness. Andrew Lindenmuth scored 11 of the Knights 15 goals to lead the way.

OVERWATCH

The Arcadia University Overwatch team matched up with Illinois Wesleyan this week, taking a 3-1 win. In game one on Samoa, the Knights earned a close 2-1 win, but fell in game two on Gibralter. Looking to take the important game three, Arcadia bounced back on King's Row in overtime, and closed ot the win on Esperanca to take the match. The highlight of the match was Tommy Porowski clutching a 1v4 while playing Tracer, a momentum shifting play.

SUPER SMASH BROTHERS ULTIMATE

The Arcadia University Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team earned its first victory of the season, taking down Community College of Allegheny County by a 2-0 win. In game one Henry Martin had his best performance to date, taking 10 stocks with Sora before finally losing all stocks. Dan Senior cleaned up the final two stocks with his Mii Swordfighter to help the Knights to a 9-0 win. In game two, Zydeek Perez took all 12 stocks to lead the team to an 11-0 victory.

VALORANT

The Arcadia University Valorant team opened the regular season against Queen's University falling 2-1. In game one on Ascent, the Knights battled through a back-and-forth match, taking a 2-1 win. Vincent Nguyen led the way going 32/15/3 with eight first bloods. Arcadia was edged out in the next two games to drop the match.
