Men's Lacrosse Roll Past King’s to Remain Unbeaten in MAC Freedom Play

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team remained atop the MAC Freedom standings with a decisive 16-7 road victory over King's College on Wednesday. The Knights improve to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Arcadia was powered by four goals from Dylan Garber, while Reilly Robichaud, Alex Greenberg, Tristan Johnson, and Joey Ewald each added two goals. Gavin Lenart, Kyle Schiller, Anthony Mangini, and Brendan Geraghty also found the back of the net.

The Knights controlled the game statistically, outshooting the Monarchs 73-25, including a 45-15 advantage in shots on goal. Arcadia was perfect on clears (14-for-14) while holding King's to 18-for-30. The Knights dominated ground balls (67-30) and the faceoff X (24-3), led by Colin Brockman (15-of-17), Darian Good (7-of-8), and Joe Rawlins (2-of-2). Arcadia went 2-for-4 on extra-man opportunities.

Brockman led all players with 12 ground balls, while Lenart recorded a team-high two caused turnovers. Nate Hudgins started in goal, making six saves and allowing five goals over the first three quarters. Joseph Tesler played the fourth quarter, making two saves and allowing two goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Despite winning the opening faceoff, Arcadia was unable to convert on its first possession, and King's capitalized with the game's opening goal.
  • With just over nine minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Knights took advantage of a turnover. Will Kazmierski scooped up the ground ball, and Dylan Garber found Joey Ewald for the equalizer.
  • King's briefly regained the lead at 2-1, but a Monarch penalty allowed Gavin Lenart to score on the man advantage off an assist from Tristan Johnson to tie the game.
  • Arcadia took its first lead following a save by Nate Hudgins, as Anthony Mangini scored in transition off an assist from Sean Perkinson.
  • The Knights extended their lead late in the first quarter, with Ewald scoring his second goal after another King's turnover.
  • King's opened the second quarter with a goal, but Johnson responded with a man-up goal after Lenart caused a turnover to make it 5-3.
  • Following another faceoff win by Brockman, Alex Greenberg scored off an assist from Mangini to extend the lead to 6-3.
  • Less than a minute later, Greenberg struck again for his second goal of the game.
  • King's cut the deficit to three, but Robichaud answered on the next possession to make it 8-4.
  • In the final minutes of the half, Garber scored off an assist from Perkinson, and Johnson added another to give Arcadia a 10-4 lead at the break.
  • King's scored first in the second half, but Garber responded following a Hudgins save with an assist from Johnson.
  • Kyle Schiller added his first goal of the season off an assist from Greenberg to make it 12-5.
  • Garber tallied again late in the third quarter, giving the Knights a commanding 13-5 lead entering the fourth.
  • In the fourth quarter, Tesler entered in goal and made an early save before Robichaud and Garber added goals to extend the lead to 15-5.
  • King's scored twice late, but Brendan Geraghty capped the scoring with his third goal of the season off an assist from Mason Barndt to secure the 16-7 victory.
