On his startup sneaker business, Saorsa:
The ideology behind my sneaker business Saorsa, which means freedom in Gaelic, is to focus on innovation and be the next big go-to sneaker brand. I would love to collaborate with some of the greats, but for now I am focusing on getting designs complete and producing samples. I want the drop of my brand to be impeccable.
How did you develop a passion for sneaker design and fashion and what drives you the most to make a career out of it?
My passion for sneakers have been around since I can remember. Growing up, for any celebration, I would just want to be showered with sneakers. What drives me the most to make a career out of it is that fact that it is my passion. Sneakers in general make everyone happy and it is indeed a business that will never go out style.
Are there any other areas on campus that you are involved in - such as clubs, organizations, etc.?
Outside of competing for the Knights' cross country and track & field programs, I am also a general member of POWER.
How have you been staying ready for the cross country and track & field seasons this fall while away from campus?
Overall, I have been extremely dedicated and self-motivated so I have been keeping up with my workouts and diet. Even though the outlook for our seasons can look grim at times, I am keeping the hope alive. While away from campus I take advantage of in-home HIIT workouts for the most part.
What are you most looking forward to for the return to campus?
I am looking forward to in-person interaction and meeting new people! I know these things will be limited, of course, but I am definitely excited to at least see a few teammates. I am also extremely excited to use the gym and be able to run in and around Glenside. It seems so simple, but the pandemic has made me realize that there is so much that can be taken away from me.
