A four-year member of both the Arcadia (then-Beaver College) field hockey and women's lacrosse programs from 1994-1998, Allen was a four-time, first-team All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) selection at midfield in women's lacrosse, while also garnering two second-team All-PAC honors at forward in field hockey. She also led the women's lacrosse program to the 1996 PAC Championship while earning conference tournament offensive MVP honors, marking the program's last conference championship up until the 2014 MAC Freedom championship season.

Allen graduated second all-time in career points (172), points per game (3.37), goals (145), and goals per game (2.84) for women's lacrosse - all marks that currently stand in the top-seven in the program's history. 

Allen graduated with a bachelor's degree from Beaver College in 1998 and earned her masters in elementary education in 2000.
