Maxine Swift Friend was a multiple-sport athlete, playing four years of field hockey and basketball and three years of lacrosse. She was on the All-Philadelphia Field Hockey Team for two years, 1955 and 1956. She also received an Honorable Mention All-American in Field Hockey. After graduation, Maxine became a coach and motivational speaker and was active with numerous athletic endeavors.
