Maggie Shaeffer achieved a University first, when she was named the first All-American in any sport at Arcadia, earning Third-Team All-America honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in 2004.
Shaeffer put together one of the best offensive seasons in program history that year, batting .454 with 59 hits and program-record totals of 21 doubles, 13 home runs, and 64 runs batted in. Her double and RBI totals from that season remain at the top of the list, while she ranks in the top five for hits, home runs, runs (41), total bases (119), and slugging percentage (.915).  She makes multiple appearances on five of the softball program’s single-season record lists.
In addition to her All-America selection, Shaeffer was a two-time NFCA All-Region Selection, earning First-Team honors in 2004 and Third-Team honors the following year. She was a three-time All Pennsylvania Athletic Conference  selection, being elected First-Team All-PAC as a catcher in 2003 and 2004 and a Second-Team All-PAC selection at third base in 2002.
After four seasons, Shaeffer was Arcadia’s career leader in nine categories; her 53  career doubles still stand as the program record. She also held the career record for runs scored (135), RBI (167), total bases (343), walks (44), fielding percentage (.967), fielding chances (540), and putouts (428), and was in the top six in career hits (196 - second), career slugging percentage (.693 - third), career batting average (.396 - sixth), and career on-base percentage (.442 - sixth). She remains in the top 10 in each category.
Shaeffer helped lead the Knights to an overall record of 112-51, including a program-record for wins in three consecutive seasons (27 in 2003, 29 in 2004, 33 in 2009). The Knights made four consecutive postseason appearances during that time, culminating with an appearance in the 2005 PAC Championship Final.
Named Arcadia’s Most Valuable Female Senior following the conclusion of her career, Shaffer earned a bachelor’s degree in health administration in 2005. Following graduation, Shaeffer joined the softball coaching staff for three seasons (2006-08).
